Building the world's smallest and best Hinglish TTS — sub-25M trainable parameters, expressive narration, code-switch native.

→Racing four architectures in parallel against a single T4 budget: Matcha-TTS (~22M) with a Hindi-fine-tuned multilingual PL-BERT and EmoSpeech-style per-phoneme emotion; IndicParler-TTS distillation into a StyleTTS2-lite student with composite-reward DPO; a Mimi-codec + 15–20M GLA/RWKV-7 LM moonshot targeting true zero-shot voice cloning; and a StyleTTS2-lite warm-started from Kokoro v1.0 with a distilled style-diffusion head.
→Pushing expressivity past the "four emotion buttons" ceiling with an EmoSphere++ continuous valence–arousal–dominance head and training-free EmoSteer-TTS activation steering — continuous emotion sliders at inference time, no retraining required.
→Every research bet gates through a 2–8 hour "kill-fast" listening test on a T4 before any serious training, ear-tuned for the long tail of Hinglish: retroflex consonants, schwa deletion, and code-switch artifacts.
